Breakout Solutions: Lemon Compress

Sudden breakouts are the worst! They can be hormonal or stress related, and several other factors can cause sudden breakouts. It's pretty obvious that most people want a quick, easy, and cheap way to clear up their skin when something like this happens. With the craziness that's been going on in my life lately, I've had an almost constant stream of acne showing up. From my chin to my forehead, and every nook in-between, I've had larger pores and pimples. Yea, it's kind of gross to talk about, but it's the truth! It's also part of nature, and it's best to just accept the fact that people get severe acne breakouts every now and then. We all know that we need to continue to gently wash out face, stay moisturized, and avoid irritation, picking, itching, or touching our face during these times. You don't want to go overboard on treatments -- because that can just make things worse. I've tried a lot of different remedies and creams and I finally found one that works really well. It's great for combination or dry skin, and even sensitive skin. (I have very sensitive skin, and this didn't harm it in the slightest.)

You're free to try this out for yourself and se if you get any results. It's very similar to different acne and blackhead treatments, as you will see. But, there are a few variations that make it unique and much easier to apply. First, let's go over the "recipe", so to speak.

Lemon Compress

- 1/2 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 1/2 Cup Cold Water
- 1 Washcloth
- 1 Small Bowl

Add the Lemon Juice to the bowl, along with the cold water. It doesn't have to be exact, as long as it's around those measurements. I use bottled lemon juice because there really aren't any lemons where I live, so either is fine. Soak the cloth and ring out the excess into the bowl. Gently press the cloth around your face between 30-60 seconds and alternate around your face. You can repeat with the same water from the bowl again, I don't recommend reusing more than once for around 3-5 minutes. Feel free to rinse the cloth, refill the bowl, and repeat if you want to. Just remember that too much of anything is bad thing, so don't do it too many times. Also, you shouldn't go outside with citrus juice on your skin because it's possible that you can develop dark spots from the sunlight. You can also lightly buff your face after you finish compressing to gently remove dead skin. Rinse off your face and continue with your regular skin routine.

(There may be some slight redness when using this method, especially if you buff your skin. I had a bit of redness, but it went away after a few minutes.)

I've done this a few times and I've really seen a difference! My complexion has brightened a bit and my skin always feels really refreshed afterwards. It dries out pimples really well and helps clear out and fade blackheads. This would be really refreshing after a workout, or after a day when our skin feels really worn out. You can do this about 1-3 times a week, depending on you skin and how bad your pimples are. I saw results pretty fast, but it may take some time for other people.

This is a nice, natural solution to try for days when your skin just needs a boost. It's a gentler way to use citrus because it's watered down a bit. If you're looking for something that's easy and cheap to try, I would really recommend this. (Obviously, if you're allergic to Lemon you shouldn't try it though.) Let me know if you get a chance to try it out, and your results! Hopefully it will work out well for you too!
