BB Cream as Sunscreen?

I haven't written anything in a while because I am currently in California after a long road-trip! I finally was able to just sit down and write for a bit today, and so I chose to do something "California-esc" for more of an article than a review.

I went to the pool the other day, and there were no clouds in the sky! So I put on sunscreen, to keep my porcelain complexion of course, and since I already had BB Cream on my face I just left that on instead of washing it off and putting sunscreen there as well.

I covered up my arms when not in the pool, with a hoodie, but my face was in the sun the whole time. The next day I checked to see if I got a sunburn or a "tan" (aka slightly less white) and I saw that the places on my back, shoulders, and arms had gotten a bit darker. My face, however, was the same as ever and had not burned at all!

My point? The BB Cream that I wore had protected me from the sun more than actual sunscreen! How cool is that? At the time I was using Etude House Precious Mineral Bright Fit BB Cream (Long name, and that's the shortened version!) This only has 30SPF, while others have more or less than that, and so I did not think it would work that well if I was outside for most of the day, but it really did! I can only imagine how well the Skin Food Grape Cell BB Cream with 45SPF would work!

I have said in the past that BB Cream is a foundation, sunscreen, and lotion (and sometimes they are whiteners or have another quality to them), which is why I love it so much! The fact that something this light and natural looking can also be worn instead of greasy sunscreen is really awesome!

You can buy different sun protection creams that go on top of BB Cream or on the rest of your body as well, if you are in an especially hot place. Since I tend to be inside I don't really need to own any of these, though I may review them in the future, but you can look at some of them Here. Also, Etude House recently came out with a BB Cream for the summer with extra sun protection! It's promoted by Sandara and SHINee, like most of their products, and looks promising. I have not tried it yet, but it seems like it it a lot like the one I currently use by them, but with extra sun protection. It is also applied with  sponge that is attached, so that's pretty interesting! You can find that one Here.

With summer coming up now, and since it is already hot in a lot of places, it's very important that you get some good sun products. Even when it is overcast you can be sunburnt, and if you are trying to keep your skin lighter than you should be wearing sunscreen and/or BB Cream whenever you are outside. The most important places to protect are your face, the back of your neck, the top of your chest, and the top of your arms and shoulders. It's rare that people get burnt on their legs, but it varies for each persons skin type and where they live.

It will be a lot easier to find products like this in summer as well, so invest in them before summer is fully here, so you already have some once it gets really hot and sunny. Since light skin is the "standard" in Korea they are one of the best countries to buy sun care products from.

I hope that you found this article helpful, and if you have anything to add or questions feel free to put them in the comment box! I am hoping that I will be able to write more while I am in California, but no promises! And remember to keep your skin healthy, clean, and beautiful this summer!

See you next time you jump down the Rabbit hole,
