When I saw this as an optional sample online, I really wanted to try it! I have been wanting to try out different toners for a while now, and this is the first of many that are on their way. This looked very clean, and well, fresh! I've had my ups and downs with Tonymoly, but this is one of the products that I liked from them. This will be a relatively short review, so let's get to it!
Tonymoly - Fresh Aqua Tear Drop Toner & Emulsion (Samples)
(4 out of 5)
I'll say right off the bat that I really like this set! The emulsion part was better than the toner, in my opinion, but there's something I'm not so sure about. You see, it comes in this set but I can't seem to find a large version of the Emulsion! I think that the "Essence" is really what it is, the description seems to fit, but I'm not 100% sure. It was a little disappointing to see that, so I hope that I'm right about them just switching the name.
Moving on to the actual product! I used this for about a week, every night, and a couple mornings. The toner goes pretty fast, but the emulsion part lasts much longer.
This is meant to be used after you wash your face and before you moisturize. It's like an extra step for skin care, and isn't really to replace a facial wash. After you wash your face, use a bit of the toner on a cotton pad. You may not have the right kind of cotton pad, if you don't have any you can use a cotton ball, but it's not recommended. (They can be found in the beauty section, on Ebay, online, etc. and are relatively cheap, around $5-$10.)
This is supposed to be made out of finest and cleanest water sources in the world, similar to the Bunny Mist. They don't really say much about the product, and I tried to find out as much as I could. I did find that it is made from "plant-derived ingredients" and the clean water, that's pretty much it. If you know more about it, please let me know! It felt very natural, not like alcohol with that burning sensation. Both of them felt very clean and fresh on my face, which was a big bonus!
The toner is completely clean and very thin, a lot like a slightly thicker water, but not by much. I used the toner and looked at the cotton pad after swiping. Wow, was it right! It picks up dirt that other things leave behind, and it was almost scary to see how much was really left on my face after washing. It didn't dry out my face or irritate it, and I have very sensitive skin. You can add a bit more on your face after you wipe, make sure your hands are clean, but I didn't. My skin felt cleaner after using this, but not in a tight or uncomfortable way.
After that you use the Emulsion. The emulsion is thinner than a lotion and has a slightly milky look to it (both of them are so clear I didn't take pictures of them, because you wouldn't be able to see much). You can use as little or as much as you want of this, and it's a balance of using enough to be effective, but not so much that you break out. This left my skin feeling smooth and soft the instant after I used it! I am so happy with this part of the product! I loved the way my skin looked and felt after I used it. I had a healthy sheen, and my skin felt soft yet firm. These products are best when used together. The toner makes the emulsion make your skin softer, and the emulsion helps your skin take in the toner. The emulsion also helps your skin soak up the moisturizer that you use after it.
It only takes a few extra minutes to use a toner and emulsion set, and it's totally worth it! This works a lot better over time, which is why I used the product over a week, and I didn't see results instantly, except for silkier skin from the emulsion. I didn't see amazing improvement from the product, but I did see some. I think if you use is in the morning as well, or maybe in the morning instead, and consistently, it will work very well. I couldn't try too many ways, since the bottles didn't exactly last me forever. You may be able to get 1-2 weeks from the set, though probably only one. So, if you like it right away, invest in the larger versions.
This one worked really well though, and helped relax and smooth my skin. My pores didn't really seem to shrink too much, I mainly just saw smoother and shinier (in a good way) skin. I did break out a little bit, but I'm not sure if it was specifically from the set itself, though in the past Tonymoly products have given me minor breakouts. I think that, for me, using too much of any cream-like serum clogs up my pores too much, so I won't give it a 5 out of 5, and will still be trying other kinds as well.
You can buy the sample set, while they last, Here, or try looking on Ebay or Amazon for around $3! The larger versions can be found online as well. The toner can be bought Here, and what I believe to be the emulsion can be bought Here, they are around $20-$25 each.
See you next time you jump down the Rabbit hole,
