It’s cherry blossom season right now so I wanted to do a week of cherry blossoms to celebrate this year! I’ve been in Korea for a few years now and I look forward to the few weeks when the trees are blooming every spring.
During this time a lot of the shops have pastel pink displays, and pink drinks are in a bunch of the cafes. My favorite though has to be the cherry blossom drinks at Starbucks during this time, and each year they were a little different. The first year that I tried them it mostly tasted like white chocolate (which I’m not a fan of honestly, I like dark chocolate and white chocolate just tastes like sugar to me). There were only a couple drinks to choose from, but I was still happy to try them out.

This year there are several drinks that you can get in hot or cold, as well as a cake and a special “spring” macaron. They have the same Cherry Blossom White Chocolate and Cherry Blossom Latte as before, but this year they also have a Cherry Blossom Green Tea Cream Frappuccino. They don’t have the crunchy bits on top like the Japanese Cherry Blossom drinks, but this year the pink shavings have a subtle berry flavor instead of being purely white chocolate. The cream is also different, it’s a little bit pink and have a slightly more tart taste than the plain white whipped cream.
There were also a lot of really pretty tumblers and dish sets for sale this year, but I actually has a hard time finding any of them in the physical stores that I went to. I would see one online that I wanted to buy, but then it was nowhere to be found after visiting about 8+ Starbucks (they're everywhere here so visiting that many takes about 10 minutes, but still).
This year my favorite had to be the green tea drink, because in general I love the combination of green tea and coffee (although not many people do). They also sell chocolate and plain pudding in Starbucks Korea, and during this promotion they made special cherry blossom packaging for the pudding cups. I washed mine (pictured above) and kept it as a coin jar in my room because it's pretty sturdy and cute.
The new drinks are coming soon, and cherry blossom lattes are out, but I'm hoping that they'll have them again next year. There's just something about drinking pink and green colorful drinks that makes it feel like spring is here, and it brightens up my day every time!
Other cafes also sell cherry blossom type drinks during this time, but appearance-wise I think that Starbucks did the best job this year. The past few years they looked nice, but they really went all out for 2017. I'm looking forward to new drinks in cafes around Seoul between now and summertime, and I'll probably post the cutest on my Instagram (shameless plug) for everyone to see.
See you next time you jump down the rabbit hole,
